Set up your first agent

Create an agent, give it something to read, and watch it answer.

An agent is one AI assistant with its own knowledge, its own widget and its own inbox. Most workspaces need exactly one.

Create it

Open AI agents in the left rail and choose New agent. Give it a name your customers will see — usually your product name, like "Acme Support".

Give it something to read

A brand-new agent knows nothing. On the agent's page, open Sources and add at least one:

  • Website — paste your site or docs URL and Chattering crawls it
  • Text — paste anything you already have written
  • Q&A — a question and the exact answer you want given
  • File — a plain-text file

The crawl runs in the background. Larger sites take longer; the source row shows its progress.

Try it before anyone else does

Every agent has a Playground. Ask it the questions your customers actually ask. Each answer carries numbered citations — click one to see the exact source the answer came from.

If an answer is wrong, the fix is almost always the content rather than the model. See The AI gave a wrong answer — how do I fix it?

Put it on your site

When you are happy, open Deploy and copy the one-line script tag. See Install the widget on your site.

Need more help? Browse all articles or ask the assistant in the chat — it answers from these docs and can connect you with the team.
